Short shorts and Hawaiian shirts 🌺 * After talking about this for two years, I am still in disbelief that we actually made it happen. On Wednesday @sam__bennetts and I completed the Long’s Peak Triathlon, biking from Boulder to the trailhead (~41 miles), hiking/running to the base of diamond (~6 miles), climbing The Casual Route (5.10a), before reversing course and heading back to Boulder. All said and done the whole adventure took us about 19 hours door to door (with a few extra stops for burritos and beer). * I wouldn’t have been able to do this without Sam, who helped keep the stoke high the entire time. Anywhere that you can go under your own power, having left from and returning to your backdoor, is your backyard. When I was little I knew my neighborhood boundaries: I wasn’t to cross the river to the East, the big field to the South, the school to the West, nor the grocery store to the North. I’ve started to notice recently just how small the boundaries kids are kept in nowadays, they are trapped within their own homes, or even worse-their technology, during this age of helicopter parents and social media. Today I was able to explore a whole new area of my backyard and it filled me with a sense of exploration, a sense of self, and a sense of wonder. I hope that everyone is able to have these types of feelings, because they truly are special and should not be lost to the overburdening of society. Some races are good, others are good learning opportunities. Here’s a few things I learned yesterday 🏃 * 1. Hard things are made easier with friends around. Thank you so much @emily.schaldach and @johanne_johanne for coming out and supporting me! You really helped to keep the spirits high in times of need! 🎉 * 2. When things hurt, just keep walking, they will eventually stop hurting. Races are like a pain rollercoaster, as long as you keep pushing through then it will get better. I promise 🎢 * 3. Set your alarm for before the race starts, not after. Luckily I was so nervous I could barely sleep and my body woke itself up 25 min before the race start. I got there 2 min after the gun went off without my bib even attached. ⏰ * 4. In your morning panic to get ready, grab the pair of shoes with insoles in them. I had to run/walk 14 miles without an insole in my left shoe and it really messed up my knee 👠 * 5. Never trust a fart. 💩

Me six months ago signing up for the Leadman series like “this is a great idea, I can totally run that far” 👶🏼 * Feeling super nervous going into the Silver Rush weekend 😬 I don’t know what the outcome will be, but I will strive to have as much fun as possible out there because it’s much easier to laugh and run than cry and run. * PS please send funny jokes and memes throughout the race to cheer me up as I suffer through 🙏

Finally starting to feel back to normal after this past weekend’s race. I’ve been eating, sleeping, rolling, and stretching a lot over the past few days. Does anyone have some post race recovery tips? 🥗 🧘‍♂️ 😴??? * 1. Under-dressed as per usual at the start of the 2019 Leadville marathon this past weekend 🏃 * 2.
